EGCC President Cup winners: Anu Avakov and Kristo Tullus
EGCC President Cup 2017 winners were Anu Avakov with 83 strokes and for the men, Kristo Tullus with 80 shots. There were a total of 140 players in the competition who enjoyed some glorious summer sunshine.
For the golf competition, we played both stableford and a HCP stroke play for different HCP groups.
For men with a HCP of less than 12.9, Heinu Klaas came out on top with a score of -2. Kert Kangert had a -1 for second and Kristjan Kaleviste's came in third. In the HCP stroke play, the best of the women was Anu Avakov with 71 (neto), the second and third place were Anneli Esken and Riina Vettuss with +1 and +3 respectively.
Men with HCP over 13 played a stableford a few players scored 38 points. To find out the winner, it was necessary to review the rules of play and the competition committee set the benchmark for the comparison of the players’ HCPs. The winner was Tõnu Vilipuu and Väino Valts and Tiit Järvekülg took second and third places.
In the women's stableford for HCP over 15, Svetlana Apart won with 40 points, and again for the next places, it was necessary to look at the players' HCPs as four players scored 38 points. Monica Pihlak and Annika Sutt took second and third place.
There was also a separate stableford class on the Stone Course for both women and men with HCP over 28. Kaarel Einpalu won with 52 points (there is no typo!). Kaarel, who started the round with HCP 39, was rewarded with a new HCP of 29.5 in one day! He played the President Cup with one birdie, four pars, five bogey and, moreover, a double bogey, etc. He had a super game and definitely one of the most memorable match results in EGCC history! In second place with 32 points was Henry Mägi and in third was Jaan Oruaas with 31 points.
Kati Palmar won on the stone course for the women with 41 points, Elle Väb came in second with 35 points and third spot was taken by Tiia Lillemäe with 34 points.
Prizes were supplied by Ideaalkosmeetika, Büroomaailm and Tallink. A gift card issued by Alexander Boutique was also worth a lot. The party was so enthusiastic that we hold the lottery until midnight!
The winners repeatedly thanked our grounds staff, who have been doing a great job both on the fairways and greens.
